Megan Cox, DVM is the owner of Empire Equine PLLC. She graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2007, after earning a BS in Animal Science with Honors from Iowa State in 2003. She has been practicing equine sports medicine with 3 different veterinary practices in Central New York since 2007. Megan founded Empire Equine in November of 2015 to continue to provide exemplary patient care and client support - woven into a fabic of uncompromising beliefs, integrity, and ethics.
She believes she is the luckiest person on the planet because her days are filled with amazing horses and their people. She gets to spend the entire day at the barn — every day! Professionally, her passions include lameness, neonatology, geriatric wellness, dentistry, opthamology, and preventative medicine. She is a top referring veterinarian at Cornell University, a previous member of the Young Equine Practitioners Task Force (American Association of Equine Practitioners (AAEP) Membership Development Committee), and a resource for local riding clubs and interest groups. When not caring for client horses, she is likely to be found doting on her Lusitano stallion Hermes Do Braga or spending time with her significant other Tim, their rescue dogs Henle, Sur, and Ellis - or their mischevious cat Senna.
Megan Cox, DVM
Tim first earned his spurs on the Intercollegiate Riding Team at St. Lawrence University. Through IHSA, he learned that anyone can enjoy horses and ride productively — earning a national IHSA title in 2012. Tim and Megan first met in 2013 and have enjoyed time together riding their horses and seeing veterinary calls ever since.
In January of 2019, Tim received exciting news that he had been accepted into the Class of 2023 at Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Vet school classes commence in August of 2019. Until then, Tim is looking forward to meeting clients and their horses, assisting with calls, and making sure our clients are well cared for and content.
Tim’s aspirations upon graduation are to expand Empire Equine’s current services to include veterinary acupuncture, veterinary chiropractic, regenerative injectable therapeutics such as IRAP and PRP, shockwave, mesotherapy, and advanced ultrasound guided joint injections (LS, SI, pelvic injections). He also has a soft spot for farm dogs, cats and goats! He’s looking forward to fielding your canine, feline and caprine requests!
In his limited free time, Tim can be found sailing, fishing, wrenching on motorcycles and snowmobiles, walking our pitt bull herd, or scratching Hermes.
Tim can be reached directly at (315) 794-5867 with any questions, concerns, or requests.
